  • Air through the middle

Eight inches of springs leave room for air, which is why hybrids sleep cooler than foam.

  • Each coil on its own

Wrapped coils move one at a time, so the mattress shapes itself to you instead of dipping in a long hollow.

  • Solid edges

A firmer ring of coils makes the perimeter usable all the way to the side.

  1. Cotton and wool over a thin quilting layer

A quilted cover with a wool blend that moves moisture off the skin. Wool also helps keep the temperature steady in both directions.

  2. Medium open-cell foam

A thin foam that takes the sharpness off the springs and cushions shoulders and hips. In Plush this layer is a little deeper, in Firm a little denser.

  3. Steel coils in fabric sleeves

Hundreds of individually wrapped coils that each respond on their own, so the mattress follows your shape and air moves through the whole layer. A firmer ring of coils runs around the edge so sitting on the side feels solid.

  4. High-density foam

A flat dense layer under the springs, so the coils do not wear on the foundation and the mattress rests evenly.

Meridian is the mattress for people who say they “sleep hot” or “like a bit of bounce”. The idea is old and good: a layer of springs for support and air, with just enough soft material on top to be comfortable.

Our coils are wrapped one by one in fabric and set in rows, with a firmer ring around the edge. That ring is what lets you sit on the side of the bed to put your socks on without rolling off.

The two firmness options share the same springs. Only the comfort layers change, which is also why the mattress feels familiar whichever you pick.

What people say about it.

The first mattress that did not warm up

“I used to kick the covers off by two in the morning. Three weeks in, I have not done it once. It is firm without being hard, and I do not feel my partner roll over.”

Marta, Burlington
Meridian: Back sleeper, queen, Firm. Night 41.

Soft on top, solid underneath

“I was nervous about springs, but I cannot feel them. I can sit on the edge and put my shoes on, which my last mattress would not let me do.”

Noor, Manchester
Meridian: Side sleeper, queen, Plush. Night 74.

Questions about Meridian

Will I feel the springs?

No. The contour foam and the wool-blend cover sit above them, and the coils are wrapped in fabric so they do not squeak.

Is Meridian good for couples?

It handles motion better than a traditional spring mattress thanks to the wrapped coils, though foam still isolates more. Dusk is quieter if one of you is restless.

How heavy is it?

About 88 lb in queen. It ships in a box that two people can carry, and we offer in-room set-up on request.
