Northgate neighbourhood, Aldermouth

Northgate is where much of the city lives: brick terraces, tidy semis and well-kept gardens a short bus ride from the centre.

It’s the best place in the city to buy a family house without paying for a postcode. Streets are quiet, schools are good, and the park is large enough to have a lake and a cricket pitch.

It doesn’t have the glamour of Westbrook or the water of the Quay, and that is rather the point.
