Dental implants
A fixed, natural-looking replacement for a missing tooth, planned carefully and built to last.
An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a small titanium post, topped with a crown made to look and feel like your own. It stays put, so you can eat, speak and smile without thinking about it.
Dr. Tomas Ilves leads our implant work and will walk you through every stage before anything is booked.
Brightwell is a fictional practice; this page is demo content and is not medical advice.
Step by step
What happens at your visit
-
Assessment and 3D scan
We look at the gum and bone, take a 3D scan and talk through every option, including not doing anything.
-
A written plan and price
The number of visits, the timing and the full cost, so there are no surprises.
-
Placing the implant
Done under local anaesthetic, with sedation available. Most people are surprised by how calm it feels.
-
Healing
The implant needs a few months to join with the bone. We check in on the way, and you can have a temporary tooth if needed.
-
Your new tooth
A custom crown, shaded to match your neighbours, is fitted and adjusted until your bite feels right.
Afterwards
Aftercare
- Expect some swelling and tenderness for several days. Cold compresses and the pain relief we advise are usually enough.
- Eat soft foods on the other side for the first week.
- Do not smoke while the area is healing; it slows the process.
- Look after an implant like a natural tooth: brushing, cleaning between and regular hygiene visits.
Questions
About dental implants
How long does an implant last?
Many last for decades with good care, but there is no guarantee. Gum health and regular reviews matter most.
Is it painful?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic. Afterwards most people describe it as sore rather than painful.
Am I too old for an implant?
Age alone is not the issue; general health and the state of your gums and jaw are what we assess.
